Equations used

PaO2/FIO2 = 100 * PaO2 / FIO2
Pressure Adjusted Heart Rate = HeartRate * CentralVenousPressure / MeanArterialPressure
MODSScore = PaO2/FIO2p + plateletsp + bilip + Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep + renalp + gcsp

Calculation Details and Variables
  • PaO2/FIO2p is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If PaO2/FIO2 >300 PaO2/FIO2p = 0
    • Else if PaO2/FIO2 ≥226 PaO2/FIO2p = 1
    • Else if PaO2/FIO2 ≥151 PaO2/FIO2p = 2
    • Else if PaO2/FIO2 ≥76 PaO2/FIO2p = 3
    • Else PaO2/FIO2p = 4
  • Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Pressure Adjusted Heart Rate ≤10 Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep = 0
    • Else if Pressure Adjusted Heart Rate ≤15 Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep = 1
    • Else if Pressure Adjusted Heart Rate ≤20 Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep = 2
    • Else if Pressure Adjusted Heart Rate ≤30 Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep = 3
    • Else Pressure Adjusted Heart Ratep = 4
  • plateletsp is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Platelets >120 x10(3)/mcL plateletsp = 0
    • Else if Platelets ≥81 x10(3)/mcL plateletsp = 1
    • Else if Platelets ≥51 x10(3)/mcL plateletsp = 2
    • Else if Platelets ≥21 x10(3)/mcL plateletsp = 3
    • Else plateletsp = 4.
  • bilip is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Bilirubin ≤20 mcmol/L bilip = 0
    • Else if Bilirubin <61 mcmol/L bilip = 1
    • Else if Bilirubin <121 mcmol/L bilip = 2
    • Else if Bilirubin ≤240 mcmol/L bilip = 3
    • Else bilip = 4.
  • renalp is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Creatinine ≤100 mcmol/L renalp = 0
    • Else if Creatinine <201 mcmol/L renalp = 1
    • Else if Creatinine <351 mcmol/L renalp = 2
    • Else if Creatinine ≤500 mcmol/L renalp = 3
    • Else renalp = 4.
  • gcsp is assigned values by this ordered logic:
    • If Glasgow Coma Score >14 points gcsp = 0
    • Else if Glasgow Coma Score >12 points gcsp = 1
    • Else if Glasgow Coma Score >9 points gcsp = 2
    • Else if Glasgow Coma Score >6 points gcsp = 3
    • Else gcsp = 4.
